In Augusta – Walk For Lupus – Augusta Mall

According to statistics, there are over 1.5 million people in the United States alone that are affected by Lupus. Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body). Augusta has a secret weapon though. Skip To My Lupus, Inc, spearheaded by Tamara Rajah, is a non profit organization that is extremely active in it’s fight to raise awareness and provide support for those affected by the disease. One of the ways they raise awareness is through the “Walk For Lupus” event.

This was the second year this event has happened in Augusta and with hundreds of people showing up in force at The Augusta Mall on Saturday morning, I have to say that the efforts of Skip To My Lupus are not going unheard. I was invited by Daryl Rolle of Dapper and Company to walk as part of “Team Dapper” and I gladly obliged. I also had an opportunity to film an episode of In Augusta as I happened to meet a lot of great families, supporters, and friends of those that are currently battling Lupus, and unfortunately some that have lost their battle. Here is a brief look at some of those stories. Enjoy!

  2. Hi, I just wanted to tell you what a great job you did on the video. :) I think it’s great that you are involved in the community and spreading the word about Lupus! I’ve been trying to find ways to get more involved in community activities myself… If you have any suggestions or know of any events coming up, please let me know via e-mail. :) Thanks again
