Starbucks opening plant in Augusta, creating 140 jobs
Coffee giant Starbucks has brewed up a strong cup of job creation in Augusta, Ga.
Starbucks Coffee Co. will spend $172 million to build a manufacturing plant in Augusta — the company’s fifth overall and first in the Peach State. Seattle-based Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) expects to create more than 140 direct jobs, plus hundreds of indirect jobs associated with construction, transportation and supply chain activities.
The 110,000- to 160,000-square-foot plant will be on 100 acres in the Augusta Corporate Park. It will produce soluble products, such as VIA Ready Brew, ingredients for Frappuccino and many of Starbucks ready-to-drink beverages.
Construction will start this spring with opening expected in January 2014.
