USA Cycling National Championships return June 20-24

Augusta, GA (May 29, 2012) – The 2012 USA Cycling Elite/U23/Juniors Road National Championships and Paralympic Road National Championships will return to Augusta June 20-24, 2012. This is the third time Augusta has hosted national cycling championships, following the 1994 Masters National Championships and 2011 USA Cycling Road National Championships.

More than 1,000 athletes are expected for the weeklong championship event. National titles will be awarded in each category for the road race, criterium, and individual time trial competitions. Additionally, the final slots available for the 2012 US Paralympic Cycling Team will be awarded following the time trial competition, and the complete London-bound team will be announced during the criterium races on Friday, June 22. In addition to the national media exposure the USA Cycling Elite/U23/Juniors Road National Championships and Paralympic Road National Championships will bring to the area, the event will generate an estimated $1.7 million in economic impact.

The schedule and venues for the championship competitions are as follows. Residents and business located in areas near the event venues should be aware of possible road closures and traffic delays. Detailed course maps are available at www.USACycling.org.
