Christmas Coming Early in Downtown Aiken

AIKEN, SC— The hot July heat is making many people wish for the cooler temperatures of the winter season. While the downtown businesses can’t do anything about the heat, they can help bring winter’s biggest holiday a little early. Christmas in July will be celebrated in Downtown Aiken from July 23 – 28.

“We tried this last year after some business owners came to us with the idea, and it went over very well.” said Jamie Turner, ADDA Administrative Assistant. “We couldn’t wait to bring it back this year!”

Participating businesses will be offering bargains reminiscent of Christmas sales, and some of them will be decorating their windows with a Christmas display. One of Santa’s elves will also be visiting and roaming around downtown. “If the elf sees you shopping at one of the Christmas in July locations, she may have a surprise for you to thank you for shopping locally, so come on down and do some early Christmas shopping! You may get surprised by Santa’s Elf,” said Turner.

Christmas in July locations along Laurens Street are Aiken Center for the Arts, Equine Divine, Lionel Smith Ltd., MB Jewelry & Beads, Powercuts Salon & Spa, Ryan’s Downtown Market & Deli and True Value Hardware and Appliances. Participating businesses off Laurens Street are: ACTS on Hayne Avenue, The Curiosity Shop on Park Avenue and Aiken Downtown Development Association in The Alley.

Each participating location is a member of the Aiken Downtown Development Association.
