 Kenny here, everyone! I had the pleasure of sitting down with the peeps over at The Westobou Festival planning office and do they have a killer festival planned this year! They ALSO discussed with me a ticket giveaway that’s happening. Here’s some info about it:

August 3, 2012, Downtown Augusta, GA will host a new spin on the First Friday tradition. Get Down Down Town will feature two events in support of First Friday and the 2012 Westobou Festival ticket launch.  Local non-profit groups, business owners and downtown residents organized these efforts. The purpose of Get Down Downtown is to ensure the positive growth and support of downtown Augusta and events such as First Friday.

Beginning at 5pm is Family Fun in the Augusta Commons. Admission is free and the event features Tara Scheyer & the Mud Puppy Band, Folly & The JAMP Masters (James Brown Academy of Music Pupils).  A petting zoo, inflatables for children and food trucks will also be on hand to add to all of the fun.

Music on the River at the Jessye Norman Amphitheater is from 8pm-12am featuring Bloodkin, Stewart & Winfield and local favorite Funk You.  Craft beer and local cuisines from various food trucks will be available for purchase. In conjunction with both events, the Westobou Festival will kick off ticket sales for the 5^th Annual festival on First Friday August 3^rd. The ticket box office is located at 965 Broad Street and the hours are M-F 10-4.

Impossible to contain in a single venue or even a single state, Westobou Festival is a five day celebration of the arts taking place in locations in and around Augusta, Georgia, and North Augusta, South Carolina.  Embracing every artistic endeavor, Westobou showcases the best in film, music, words, dance and visual arts in remarkable, show-stopping landmarks that are artistic, architectural icons in-and-of themselves. Westobou Festival begins October 3 and unfolds around the CSRA through October 7.

Winner will be announced August 2, 2012 at 7PM at Earth Fare, the Healthy Supermarket, 268 Fury’s Ferry Rd, Martinez, GA 30907. Winner will be contacted by phone or email and must come in and show valid ID to claim Prize. Prize must be claimed within 48 hours of notification or entry will e deemed invalid. Employees of Earth Fare and Augusta Westobou Festival, Inc. are not eligible for prize.
